Making Our Industry Accountable

The Seafood Sustainability Movement Began in the Early 1990s but Is in Desperate Need of Change

In the early 1990s, the promotion of seafood sustainability highlighted the growing need to control over-fishing, helping uncover the detrimental impact that these fishing methods had on our environment. These methods of over-exploiting the ocean's resources needed to be controlled in order to help guarantee a balanced marine ecosystem.

A New Standard in the Sustainability Movement Is Here.

Who We Are

We are an organization with over 50 years of industry knowledge. Our ocean's resources are our industry's lifeblood and in need of a true gatekeeper. Along with our partners we will simplify the process of promoting your business's sustainability efforts and showcase your willingness to help protect the world's oceans.

In recent years we have witnessed the profit center the sustainability movement has become. Organizations that claim to protect the fisheries have increasingly certified species that many Biologists and Organizations believe are still over-fished and in danger. In addition, we have also witnessed in recent years the confusion behind the term FIP (Fishery Improvement Project). We will help remove this confusion by creating specific requirements and goals. Any fishery or species will have to meet these requirements to have FIP status and to be labeled as such.

As an organization, we will only commit to working with fisheries that are truly willing to make a difference.
